Seminar with Indigenous People from Brazil and the US
This seminar will address various issues pertinent to the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas. The seminar will have as target audience not only scholars, but communities and their leaderships. It’s organized by Marianne Sallum, an archeologist who is a visiting scholar at UMass Boston from USP (Universidade Estadual de São Paulo), one of the most prestigious universities in Brazil.
The seminar will use three languages: English, Spanish, and Portuguese. They are looking for three Spanish-English interpreters for the round tables and questions. Interpreters will receive a small compensation and also a certificate.
Interpreters will receive, beforehand, an outline or a presentation with all a given speaker will be presenting, so that they can research vocabulary for the topic. The organizers would also (tentatively) schedule a brief Zoom meeting between speakers and interpreters before the event, so that interpreters can get acquainted with speech style for each speaker.
There might be one session of training in Consecutive Interpretation, if needed.
